History and Genesis

The Tamil Nadu Economic Association (TNEA) was founded with a vision to create a vibrant intellectual forum for economists, academicians, researchers, and students across Tamil Nadu. Emerging from informal gatherings of economic scholars in the early 1990s, the association was formally established in [insert year] to encourage dialogue and research on key economic issues affecting the state and nation. Over the years, TNEA has grown into a respected body known for its academic rigor and commitment to policy-relevant economic discourse.
To achieve our objectives, we are going to tread the following paths:

To achieve a stronger Tamil Nadu in particular and India in general in macroeconomic and microeconomic perspectives, ensuring rapid economic development. Recent advances in science and technology have brought nations and institutions in India and World closer and interdependent. Changing modes of production and consumption increasing range of new goods and services, have enlarged the quantum and quality of goods. The role of government, the use of private and public partnership patterns is influenced by recent trends the life of nations. The new global institutions like United Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund and other world level bodies have increasing impact on domestic economic policies and practices, The consequent problems and policy prescriptions constitute major themes for research and policy prescriptions.
The academic and research activities of TNEA are tuned to grapple with emerging issues and solutions. The problems faced by government of Tamil Nadu in the federal structure of Indian polity, are dynamic and need frequent attention. Tamil Nadu Vision 2023, contemplates to make Tamil Nadu “Numero Uno” State in all fronts, and secure the benefits of rapid economic growth for all its people making Tamil Nadu as one among India’s most economically prosperous and progressive States.

  • To upgrade the capacity of the Tamil Nadu Economic Association (TNEA) so as to cater to the changing needs of the teachers, scholars, industrialists, businessmen, and others in the economic field as well as in other related fields.
  • To enable the students and research scholars of regional, national and international areas of Economics for increasing the global linkages and peaceful pursuits.
  • To provide classics in Economic Sciences at affordable prices, and to collect reputed articles and books from Indian Economic Journal and IEA publications for reprint.
  • To establish a liaison with likeminded individuals, associations of economists, and institutional counterparts in and outside India.
  • To provide the necessary inputs for Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states of the Indian Union and policymakers towards the solution of the crucial economic problems linked to Indian and global politics.
  • To scientifically and objectively analyze various governmental policies regarding various economic sectors and to bring out reports and publications in both digital and hard copies to create awareness and positive thinking.
