Dr. A.R. Veeramani is an accomplished academic and administrator with over 34 years of experience in teaching, research, and university administration. He holds multiple advanced degrees, including an M.A. in Economics, M.A. in Political Science, B.L., M.Phil. in Economics, and a Ph.D. in Industrial Economics from the University of Madras.
Throughout his career, Dr. Veeramani has held significant leadership positions. He served as the Registrar at Vels Institute of Science, Technology & Advanced Studies (VISTAS) (Deemed University), and was previously the Registrar of Thiruvalluvar University and Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University. He also served as the Dean, College Development Council at the University of Madras and as Professor and Head of the Department of Economics at Thiruvalluvar University.
His extensive administrative experience spans over 14 years, 7 months, and 24 days, during which he played a pivotal role in institutional development, including creating infrastructural facilities and developing curriculum for various universities. He has also significantly contributed to distance education for 18 years, including preparing self-instructional materials and introducing new courses.
Dr. Veeramani has actively guided research, with 10 M.Phil. and 20 Ph.D. degrees awarded under his supervision. He has numerous publications, including articles in national and international journals and books on topics like Industrial Policy and Agricultural Engineering. He has organized several seminars and workshops, including those sponsored by the UGC and the Ministry of Human Resources Development.
Recognized for his contributions, he received the “Best Administrator Award (Registrar) 2016” by PEARL – A Foundation for Educational Excellence and the “Annual CASE STUDY AWARD, 1998” by The Indian Institute of Public Administration. He has been a member of various academic bodies, including the Board of Studies and Academic Councils of multiple universities, and has served on important state-level committees for higher education and Tamil development. Dr. Veeramani is also actively involved with professional societies, serving as the Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Economic Association and as an Executive Council Member of the Indian Institute of Public Administration, Tamil Nadu Branch.
